So this past weekend has been a fun weekend. Friday I went to Magic Kingdom with my roommate Brooke and our friend Isaac. It was going fine, until it all the sudden decided to downpour on us. We got out of the Haunted Mansion and it looked like a waterfall was coming down. We booked it to backstage and went to get rain ponchos from the locker rooms. Brooke had hers, and luckily Isaac had two so he let me borrow one. Of course when we went back outside it had stopped raining. But an hour later it started raining again so we were prepared for that! We then took a monorail to Epcot to spend our last hour there. We went to "The Seas with Nemo and Friends", and I thought it was just a show of some sort but it's actually a ride. And once you get off the ride you're in this huge aquarium with dolphins, stingrays, and a bunch of other sea creatures! I can't believe I didn't come here sooner I loved it! But it's usually a long wait so I never wanted to wait an hour, and when we went on a rainy night it was only a 5 minute wait if that.
Saturday was the day that made me extremely happy.I was working in the booth, about to bank out in a few minutes. I decided I could take one more guest before I had to leave. And from the line, I kept telling myself this one guest looked so familiar, but I pushed it aside and kept on working. The guest I thought looked familiar happened to be my last guest. And right away when he saw my name tag say that I went to BYU-Idaho, he said he went there too. Turns out we were both Communication majors and took i-Comm together! So I definitely remember working with him on some of the same projects. He was with his wife celebrating their one year anniversary, and she had never been to Disney World before so she was excited. And he's from Florida, so he is on his off-track like me. We ended up talking for a good 15 minutes there at the booth, and I told him to take advantage of the special discounts Florida residents get. He said he definitely would!
The best part though happened later that night. My friend Laura and I went and saw the movie "The Adjustment Bureau", with Matt Damon :) I love him! The movie was really good too. But anyways before the movie started, we were sitting by these guys who were talking about Epcot. And Laura being Laura leans over to them and says "I work at Epcot... do you?" And they both did and we got into a conversation with them. One of the guys said he worked in the communications department, and helps to design and update the Hub (our website we cast members go on), and also helps make the telecast for us cast members and a bunch of other things. Once he said he did those things, I got all excited and said that is what I'm interested in right now. I love web design and anything dealing with communications. He started asking me what I majored in, I said Communications. Then he asked where I went to school. I told him and he said he graduated from BYU-Idaho! I COULDN'T BELIEVE THIS WAS HAPPENING! We talked for a while and he told me how to get to do what he does, the steps he took and the connections he made. He told me to talk to Beth Hendricks at school, who just happens to be my new adviser! He said she hooked him up to do what he is doing today. He also offered to do a meet and greet with me, where I would go into his work with him and see what he does and meet people he works with. THIS IS A DREAM FOR ME! So I plan on emailing him soon to make that happen! These could be the stepping stones I need for my future career!
What are the odds that the one BYU-Idaho student I know comes to my booth out of all the booth open that day? What are the odds that Laura not only chose the exact seats she did in the big theater, but opened up and joined in on his conversation? I can't believe I got so lucky! I will never forget this day!

Those are quite the coincidences! Good luck with the meet and greet thing!
