Hello there!
I'm Kylie.
I am a recent graduate of Brigham Young University-Idaho. I received my bachelor's in Communication with an emphasis in Web Design. I miss my college social life, but I definitely don't miss homework and tests!
I grew up in a small farm town in Washington known as Ephrata (E- fray- tuh) where most of my family still lives. I currently reside in a suburb outside of Salt Lake City called Murray. Although I miss seeing my family on a regular basis, I am enjoying living on my own and experiencing the life of an adult. Plus there's a lot more to do here than in Ephrata!
I just started my first, real grown-up job (and by "just stared," I mean on April 2 of this year)! I'm a Marketing Assistant at a software development company called Digital Trike here in Salt Lake. I'm slowly but surely learning lots of new information here and am loving the responsibilities that come with my job.
Before my current job, I was an intern at Deseret News where I wrote articles for the Mormon Times and other feature sections. This is how I ended up in Salt Lake. I worked there for six months and after creating about 90 articles, my writing skills increased tremendously! I will always be grateful for the opportunities I was given and already miss working for such an amazing company.
I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have been a member my whole life and I know I wouldn't be the person I am today without the knowledge I have gained. I love the joy and comfort I receive by being LDS and by living the standards that have been set to keep me on the right path, I learn and grow into a better person everyday.
When I'm not working, I enjoy having fun with friends and family, writing to and reading letters from my favorite missionary Elder Geoffrey Whetstone, expressing my creativity through design, blogging (obviously!), wasting time on Pinterest and baking yummy cupcakes or other treats!
I created this blog because I'm not the best a writing in a journal, so I figured the best way for me to document my life would be through a blog! I love blogging about fun times so I can look back on them and smile. I came up with the title of this blog, "Simple Pleasures," because as I have grown older, I look back at my life and realize the moments that have mattered most to me were the simple things I most likely took for granted at the time they occured. But now I see how special and significant those moments were and sometimes wish I could relive them all over again.
One of my favorite scriptures is Alma 37:6 - "Now, ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise."
I believe it is through the simple moments in life that turn you into the person you were meant to become, making the simple moments truly matter most.
Well there you have it, me in a nutshell. Thanks for visiting my blog!
