Monday was my last day training in the classroom at Disney University! I was so glad I wouldn't have to be sitting there all day falling asleep! If I wasn't falling asleep, I was getting frustrated because training was so intense, I really felt like a failure because I couldn't do anything right that was asked of me. I hate being under pressure! There was so much to remember, and so much information I couldn't comprehend it all! Luckily we filled out a workbook so I could look back on all the notes and information in it.
Yesterday was my "Once Upon a Time... Is Now" day. I got a tour of the Magic Kingdom since I will be working there, but not really in the park. I will work at the Ticket Transportation Center (better known as the TTC) doing my best to sell tickets and all the work involved with doing that! But mostly everyone that goes to the TTC ends up going to the Magic Kingdom, which is why it's the park I say I work at.
Anyways, the tour was great! We went backstage and saw how everything works, went under the tunnels again, etc. It blows my mind every time I get to do those special things that a normal person won't ever know about. Disney is just so smart in how they make it all happen! We got to ride the Buzz Lightyear ride and then Haunted Mansion. Speaking of the Haunted Mansion, I have the best story to tell! So one of our tour guides happened to be the manager of the Haunted Manson, and he helps train the new cast members that work there. He knows everything about that attraction, and the park it's in so it was way cool learning about the things he told us. But he told us this story about the Haunted Mansion before we went on it, and me being so gullible, I believed it and was of course fascinated! I won't tell you the story since I don't want to ruin everything for you, but the story did help with the ride and looking at the pictures closely it all made sense! Before going on the ride though, the manager of the Haunted Mansion said, "Now remember, the only thing we have added to this attraction is the lighting rod on top, which is made to look like a weather vane." Right after he said that, a huge nasty vulture flew from behind the Haunted Mansion and landed on the weather vane! It freaked us all out, and even the manager was spooked!
After our 4 hour tour, me and another vacation planner in training met one of the vacation planning coordinators, Gaylon. We went to lunch, got to know each other then took the ferry to the TTC It was way cool seeing the fancy resorts while on the ferry. I would love the live the luxury life by staying in one of those! Gaylon told us that each of the resorts represents a different area of the Magic Kingdom. Fort Wilderness represents Frontier Land, The Polynesian Adventure Land, The Contemporary Resort is Tomorrow Land, and The Grand Floridian is Main Street.
Once we got to the TTC, Gaylon showed us around and the basic information we needed to know. I got my locker and met a few other vacation planners. We got to go inside one of the booths and see how it all worked. It made me even more nervous! But I love how the booths are all set up. There's 9 booths with 6 stations at each. Usually there's only 2 or 3 booths open right now because it's pretty slow.
We left after we learned the basics and went to go get our costumes we would be wearing. It is quite the outfit... I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. Black pants, white shirt, and a button- up colorful vest. I will have to take a picture of me in it!
Yesterday was such a long and crazy day! I ended the day laying by the pool :)
So today... was my first day on the job! I was so nervous I didn't want to look like an idiot infront of the guests! But I have a trainer for the first few days so he helps me when I need it thank goodness! And after a few tries I started getting comfortable and everything started flowing better. It was way nice!
It was great interacting with the guests and having good conversations with them. Most of them were from other countries so that was neat. I am anxious to get even better and learn even more! There is soooo much to remember with the money, meetings, etc. But hopefully I get the hang of it all soon! I need to become more familiar with the parks and rides as well so I can get the guests excited talking about them :)

Yeah! I didn't realize you have a blog, for some reason. I am glad to be able to keep up with what you are doing. We will miss you and hope you make it back here before too long. Disney World is a lot of fun. I was there a couple of years ago for clogging and had a blast. I read a post you did a few weeks ago and laughed about your discovery of apple dumplings. My mom made those for Christmas Eve dinner and, I swear, I could have eaten an entire pan of those myself in one sitting, if I wasn't careful. They are DIVINE! I hope someone makes them at the reunion this summer! Well, love you tons and hope you enjoy every moment in Disney World!
