I have gone too long without blogging, but this summer has been filled with lots of driving and traveling with family and friends. Here's a recap:
Besides our family reunion that I already blogged about, my family and I have been doing lots of fun things together. We went to Slide Waters in Lake Chelan, which is one of our favorite water parks that we haven't gone to in 7 years! So it was great going back there and having fun on all the water slides!
I've gone to Seattle to visit my dad twice so far since I've been back in Washington; once to visit for fun and another time to go to my cousin Kayleen's wedding. It was fun playing tennis with my dad and eating one of my favorite foods I've been craving, manapua, from Uwajimaya!
I've hung out with my cousin, Leisha, and my two favorite little girls a few times. The fun never ends with them! Leisha is expecting her third child and had a gender reveal cake made for all of us to get together and see what she was having. That cake was ADORABLE! We were all so surprised when we saw the blue color of the cake inside! I'm so excited for them!
I went to the Grant County Fair for a couple of hours with my family because my little sister entered a couple of photos she had taken, so we wanted to see those. I enjoyed the short amount of time we were there. Part of me misses my pig showing days, but then I remember the heat and the long days and don't miss it at all! We tried deep fried Oreos for the first time at my Aunt Mimi's theater booth, and wow they were amazingly delicious!
I went camping with my friends Ayla and Britney in Leavenworth. It was a fun little getaway, even if we did end up sleeping on the hard ground! I love Leavenworth and it's always a fun adventure when I go there.
The highlight of my summer was definitely my family's vacation we took at the end of summer. We left on a Wednesday and drove to Brigham City, Utah. We got there Thursday afternoon and were able to meet up with my Aunt Barbie for dinner at one of my favorite places, Zupas! We also got ice cream at the famous Farr Ice Cream Parlor, and they had my favorite flavor which you never see, playdough! On Friday afternoon, we went to the Brigham City Temple open house, and that was wonderful. That temple is so beautiful with all the detail they put into even the littlest things. After the open house we picked up some lunch from Maddox and took it to my Aunt Jane's house to enjoy it with her. My cousin Nikki and her family ended up stopping by right when we got there, and it was a total surprise to see them! We were glad we did because we didn't think we would be able to see her at all. She has some cute kids! On Saturday, we drove to Idaho Falls to visit my sister-in-law and nephews. We took Abbott to Target to pick out his birthday present for his 1st birthday. We also went out to lunch at Red Robin. After spending some time with them, we drove to Jackson, Wyoming and spent the rest of the evening there. I forgot how much I like that tourist town. It's filled with unique shops and stores. We ate dinner at this delicious Mexican restaurant called "Three Little Piggies." My mom raves about their green verde sauce, so she was looking forward to going there and having it! Sunday morning we got up early and drove to Yellowstone, where we spent our entire day. It was great seeing all the waterfalls, geysers, and hot pools. One thing I can't say we enjoyed seeing was the wildlife. We saw only a few buffalo and elk. They all head into the mountains during this time of year. Next time I go there, I will make sure to go in the spring so I can see more buffalo and elk! We finally got home on Monday. I was eager to sleep in my own bed after not doing so for 5 nights!
One final thing... I GOT MY DIPLOMA IN THE MAIL! I am officially a graduate from BYU-Idaho!
So yeah... that is a somewhat quick recap of my fun summer! I'm going to miss the warm sunshine, but I do enjoy sweatshirt, fall weather as well! It's the freezing cold winter where I just want to go hide in a hole and not come out until spring :)
