Traditions

Day 3 at DisneyWorld:
Yesterday was my first day of work, which they call "Traditions". It was a day full of orientation and learning the inside scoops on how they make Disney so magical. I learned soooooo much and it was a lot of fun. When we first arrived at Disney University, we got our Disney IDs which allow us to go into the parks for free whenever we want to :) They are also used as our time cards we swipe when we check in and out of work. But I was so excited to get that!

I will cut my post as short as possible for your sakes, even though I could talk about Traditions for forever :) The best part for me was going in the underground tunnels under the magic kingdom and being backstage. I am considered on stage when I am working, and so are all the employees. But it was way cool seeing how Disney does it all, and makes everything possible for guests. I don't want to ruin the magic for you... so if you really are dying to know what goes on under there let me know! Otherwise, use your imagination! I also felt special for getting to wear an earpiece around so that only our leader could talk to us about secret stuff, and not ruin the magic for the guest inside DisneyWorld.

We got to go inside the Magic Kingdom and observe the guests and the interaction employees made with them. The only character I saw on stage was Peter Pan, and one of my favorite things is to see how the little kids get all excited to get their picture with them. There was a little girl dressed as a princess and seeing her smile when she got to meet Peter Pan made my day!

We went back to Disney University, learned more, and then Mickey Mouse himself came and delivered our name tags in fancy glass cases. Once those were pinned on us, we were official employees! I love having my official name tag and being apart of this Disney Family!

Traditions was really magical for me to say the least, and it made me want to create magic moments for the guests when I interact with them. Making someone's day and making them happy is what I live for, I can't say that enough! I'm glad I will be able to make that possible while I'm working at the happiest place on earth!

I have to show off my IDs and my name tag, so here they are! the orange one in my lanyard is my housing ID, which I have to show to security before I can get into my apartment complex or others. Then there's my Disney ID! And my beautiful name tag has my name and "Brigham Young Univ-Id" underneath. Not enough room to spell out the whole thing, and no one here knows what the heck "BYU-Idaho" is unless you say the whole thing.

After traditions, my friends and I hurried and changed out of our business clothes and ran to the next bus that left in 10 minutes for Downtown Disney. Luckily we made it. We bought lanyards to put our IDs in then went to a fun dinner at the Rainforest Cafe! We walked around some more then a few of us headed back to get some sleep in order to wake up early tomorrow for training!

My lovely BYU-Idaho friends at the Rainforest Cafe!
